Bathers: (Australian informal) A bathing suit

They say necessity is the mother of invention, and as a forty-something mum of two young children, the necessity for me came when my wish to move seamlessly from bikini to one piece proved almost impossible. This journey was akin to finding the right pair of jeans or shade of lipstick, a journey fraught with many beautiful cuts, silhouettes and colourways that didn't quite, for my stage of life, meet my requirements.

...so BATHERS was born, from the necessity to create classic, elegant and supportive one piece swimsuits for women, like me, who are proud of their body and want to feel their swimsuit flatters and empowers. So too, BATHERS was driven by the wish to have a swimsuit that could carry me from sipping drinks at a poolside bar to a cartwheel on the beach or kitesurfing on the West Coast (all three tried and tested). A suit that really could do it all.

And as with favourite jeans and lipstick shades, quality equals longevity. BATHERS is a slow fashion brand - whilst our fabric is imported, every other element is locally sourced, produced and made here in Cape Town. Our double lined swimsuits (outer and inner lined with the same high quality fabric) result in a one piece that will stand up to the test of time when cared for correctly.
